NICANA Adventure Tours is owned and operated by Stephanie Solverson
along with her husband Dariel Hebberth. Stephanie is a PADI Certified Diving
Instructor, as well as, an experienced equestrian trainer. In 2012, she cycled
from Camrose, Alberta to Little Corn Island in Nicaragua. She embarked on
the nearly 7,000-kilometre journey with the goal of raising money to build a
learning center on Little Corn Island. Dariel is a Garifuna. Born in Orinoco
and raised on Little Corn Island.
Today, she and her family run NICANA Adventure Tours Ltd., based
Nicaragua with offices in Canada. Stephanie seeks to operate cultural/ eco
tours into the Pearl Lagoon Basin in the South Atlantic Autonomous Region. Tours
include river excursions in traditional dugout canoes (known as dories) and
cultural interpretation events. NICANA offers trips into the Northern
Highlands of Nicaragua, as well as, Honduras, Guatemala and Belize. Tour
itineraries include visits to agricultural colleges, nature reserves and farming
communities, Guests will experience camping along the edges of the
Wawashan River, searching for caiman at night, discovering local techniques
for catching shrimp, crabs and cockles. NICANA’S guests also have an
opportunity to experience the way of life of the Garifuna people.
Tour the Pearl Cays, tiny uninhabited islands in the Caribbean. Where the
jungle camps provide a breathtaking views of the southern night sky.
Snorkel and dive with a certified PADI Dive Instructor, who will introduce
you to plentiful marine life and the amazing bio-luminescence the area has to
offer.
Typically, the tours end with an optional add-on stay at the company-owned
guesthouse on the quai8nt island of Little Corn offering further adventures in
snorkeling, diving, horseback riding, yoga and exploring.
